Teacher Training
Supporting Teachers
Teachers who would like to facilitate the Community Leadership Class (CLC) will be provided extensive training and support. Teachers will receive two to three days of in-person, on-sight training. In addition, throughout the academic year, teachers will receive on-going virtual support. Training will include how to effectively and appropriately utilize the Community Leadership Curriculum, which includes effective use of lessons and materials, as well as specific skills described in the modules. Teachers will receive a lesson plan workbook that includes daily objectives written in student-friendly language, the context for learning, as well as scripted instructional delivery methods. Teachers will also receive digital content in the form of instructional PowerPoints and lesson materials.
Like students, teachers will receive psychoeducation about the effects of trauma and the ACEs study. Teaches will learn about ways to discuss trauma in an empowering capacity that highlights individual and community resiliency. Teachers will also actively learn and practice the Life Engagement Exercises that are unique to the CLC.
The Life Engagement Exercises are designed to help students build their personal skillsets around the following topics:
Presence
Interest
Intention
Control
Perseverance
Focus
Empathy
Setting and Respecting Boundaries
Tips and resources to modify lesson timing for specific scheduling needs will also be discussed.
Certification: LifeSpheres will certify teachers who have completed the training, which includes teaching the class at least once and passing a written exam for certification.
