Autumn Browning

As both a public school teacher and a social worker, Autumn has dedicated her career to serving children and families. She has worked in a number of capacities in Asheville, NC, the Mississippi Delta, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma City. She earned her BSW from Warren Wilson College and her MSW from the University of Southern California. In 2021, she became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in adolescent and young adult English Language Arts. Her role as an educator has perpetuated her passion to provide trauma informed, school-based services that meet both the social-emotional and learning needs of her students. Autumn piloted the first two classes of the “Community Leadership Class” (CLC) at a local high school in Oklahoma City.

“Piloting the Community Leadership Class was an incredible experience. Many of my students have experienced trauma and as their teacher, I often felt overwhelmed on how to best serve and meet their needs. The CLC allowed my students to learn about trauma and resiliency, while also building skills around healthy boundaries, listening, and leadership. Students benefited greatly from this class.”

In addition to her work with the CLC, Autumn is an active volunteer with a number of organizations. In 2019, she was named one of “NextGen’s Oklahoma 30 Under 30” for her work in education and in 2022, she was named a teacher of the year finalist in Oklahoma City Public Schools.
